Colosseum Season 3 - Starting Tomorrow

• How to View Your Colosseum Ranking Info 
  • The launcher shows some of the rankings data.
  • The full ranking data can be viewed on the website by clicking Rankings -> Colosseum at the top
  • When are the rankings updated?
    • Rankings are updated based on a dynamic interval, usually 15-30 minutes after Colosseum PTM ends (round 10).

• Calculation
  • SR is calculated using several factors. The most important factor is winning.
  • Calculation Factors
    • Win/Loss
    • Average Level + Average SR of the match
    • Match Count (compared to avg)
    • Class + Kills/Deaths/Heals
  • Match Exclusions
    • In certain cases, a match will not be counted toward SR.
      • Unequal Teams (not 3v3)
        • Disconnect or game crash BEFORE map loads
          • NOTE: Closing the client or DCing after the map has loaded will result in SR LOSS.
      • New Player / Ungeared / Low Winrate
        • If a team has a player with a very low winrate, the match will not be counted.
  • Penalties
    • Penalties deduct SR points.
      • Low match count --> dynamic: compared to avg # of matches of all ranked players
      • SR Decay --> not playing at least 2 Colosseum matches within 2 days.
      • Excessive disconnecting/relogging/crashing.

Rising's Halloween Content Patch

Event 1: Mitera Terror Boss

• Boss Information
  • Mitera Terror will spawn randomly in Mitera. Announcements will be made both in-game and on Disccord when the monster appears. The location in the map will be revealed in the announcement, though, sometimes it will be unknown..
    • This event is NOT associated with Red Hole. That is separate.

    • Ownership: Disabled
    • Mechanics
      • Mitera Terror's attacks will strengthen the closer you are to defeating him, so be careful!
      • Spawns --> Mitera Terror can control spirits across Mitera, beware of other monsters he may control to fight on his side.
      • Oneshot AOE --> Keep an eye out for early warning signs! The terror can create bursts of energy notorious for large areas of fighters.

  • Mitera Terror has a new drop system that guarantees the number of certain drops to ensure there are enough rewards for those powerful enough to defeat him.

Zuto Battle & PvP System Improvements

• Invisibility Cancellation Mechanic  Rising Exclusive
  • We've developed a mechanic to dispell (cancel) summoner invisibility in certain situations where it is necessary. This was most frequency suggested for Zuto Battle, where stones could be captured while invisible even immediately after the previous capture.
    •  Cancellation Warning:
      • If the cancellation mechanic is triggered, an buff icon will flash for 5 seconds before invisibility is cancelled.
      •

Siege Review

Although the Siege changes were not what we were hoping for, we were able to learn a lot of valuable information.

Next Siege *IMPORTANT*

• I'd like to invite every guild that is interested in participating in Siege to select 1-2 people to speak for them in regards to the next Siege.
• Ideally, we'd like to come up with a plan that everyone agrees to (as impossible as it sounds).
  • If we can't come up with a plan that everyone agrees to, I will do my best to accommodate everyone's concerns.
• Please the 1-2 speakers Wednesday (Oct 11th) and send them via Discord.

Our goal, as with everything, is to create the ultimate Dekaron experience. Personally, I think trying something new as long as its fair and announced with enough time to prepare could make things more fun. That said, I don't want any guild to feel disadvantaged or that any changes are unfairly targeted.

Information on the next Siege will be posted next Sunday, at least 7 days before Siege.

Important Information

• Before Siege, we did not release any information beyond what was in the original Siege Battle information post with the changes. This was to keep it fair for all guilds and for the sake of data collection (which would have been impacted if this information was disclosed).

• Siege Castles - Prizes and Rewards
  • I want to make something clear about Siege and prizes for it. Since Siege has been implemented, prizes for it have always been for the time until the next Siege. It's like that now and it's how it has always been.  Winning Siege only guarantees prizes until the next fight.
  • The amount of time a castle has been held is irrelevant. If we make changes (for whatever the reason), it will be after the two weeks and after the prizes have been collected -- and we will do our best to make the changes fair for everyone participating.

• OMG, was this a test?
  • Yes and no. We didn't call it a test because no one would take it seriously (as we saw in the past) if it was a test. So it was a real Siege, with real prizes.

    • We promised prizes for a previous Siege test a few weeks ago. Those will be sent today.

Previous Siege Changes - Specifics

• Crystal HP
  • Total HP Amount
    • The Crystal HP was increased by the same amount for each castle.
  • HP Recovery
    • The HP recovery added to crystals was not the same for each castle. We needed to test different HP recovery values.
      • +25 - Blue Crystal
      • +50 - Red
      • +100 - Yellow

What Went Wrong?

• HP Recovery
  • The HP recovery values that we added to the crystals was too high. This caused 2/3 of the crystals to be impossible to capture, and 1/3 to be near impossible.
    • 

• Preparation Time
  • In hindsight, announcing the changes 72 hours before Siege was not a good idea. This made it hard for guilds to prepare and caused a lot of scrambling.

Why this was valuable

• We're working on the creation of new large-scale guild systems, including one that has multiple crystals.

• Custom features that have to handle hundreds of players are not easy to develop. An example of this was the Colosseum SR system, which had to be quickly improved after the number of players participating in Season 2 turned out to be much higher than the previous season and the system started to have trouble teleporting everyone because it had to handle so many people at once.

• Doing this test helped us with the following mechanics we are working on:

Siege Update

This Siege is going to be slightly different than previous Siege battles. These changes are geared toward making Siege a more action-packed battle and strategy based.

This change may or may not be permanent. Only the changes in this post will be applied. Although we have tested other systems and features for Siege (like one castle), those were tests and other improvements or guild systems we are working on are separate.

• Castle Capture -> Each Castle can only be Captured Once
  • Once a castle is captured, it will be locked to the guild that captured it.
    • Example: GuildB destroyed the Ardeca castle's crystal that GuildA had and was defending. GuildB would win the castle and the Ardeca Castle will be locked.

• Castle Crystals Buffed
  • Castle Crystal HP will be increased and will have a very slow HP re-gen.

• No other changes.
  • Again, other changes have been tested and are being developed, but we are only implementing these changes.
  • All castles will still open at the same time when Siege starts
  • If the crystal is not destroyed, the castle will still belong to the defender

We will continue to do our best to make improvements. Even if these changes do not go well or product the results we want, conducting experiments like this gives us valuable data, insights, and ideas to come up with new designs and improve further. We know the Siege system is not perfect, which is why we're developing new and completely Guild vs. Guild systems in the future.

Rising Optimizer

Our goal is to create the ultimate Dekaron experience for our players. We have developed a new program to help us improve client stability and performance. Going forward we will continue to optimize both the game client and our cloud infrastructure.

• NEW: Rising Optimize - Crash Reporter & Optimizer
  • Whenever the client crashes abruptly a newly developed crash reporter will appear.
  • The client log + crash time + crash code will be automatically sent to us for investigation.
  • NO PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION (PII) IS COLLECTED
    • The crash reporter will ask for some information (optional).
      • The more information you provide, the more we can investigate and make improvements
        • For this reason, coins will be randomly rewarded to helpful crash reports.

    • The crash reporter will attempt to fix your client when possible
    • The crash reporter will provide recommendations to optimize the game

Mount Abuse & Fair Gameplay

Fairness is one of our highest priorities on Rising.

Although we have stated multiple times that mount upgrading / stat system will be revamped, it has come to our attention that a feature we overlooked was abused. Although we removed the option to get the breakable mounts from Ardeca's stablekeeper, we did not do so for the stablekeeper in Loa/Braiken.
 

• What was abused & How?
  • The Stablekeeper in Ardeca allowed you to purchase a basic mount box.
  • People purchased the mount box, made alts to do it again, then disassembled the mounts for Swift Crystals.
  • Swift Crystals were used to upgrade the mount stats from level 0 to level 10.

• What was the unfair advantage?
  • People who leveled their mount option from 0 to 10 received a minor unfair advantage.

• What about Gear Wheel? Will my option be removed?
  • NO. Gear Wheel obtained from the daily quest was legitamate. We may add other ways to get gear wheel.
  • Options rolled from Gear Wheel will not be removed (just reset back to level 0).

• What steps were taken to correct this?
  • All mount options that were over level 0 have been set to 0. The rolled option is not affected.
  • Example:

• How do we upgrade mount stats now?
  • Mounts will be revamped in the next update. For now, there is no way, but it is fair for everyone.

Colosseum Season 2

Colosseum PTM Rankings Season 1 was a HUGE success. We had thousands of characters that joined and over 14,000 matches played. The SR algorithm was also impressive.

We've made some improvements to Season 2 based on feedback and we're excited to be kicking off Season 2 soon. Future seasons will not have such a long off-season.

Ranking Division System

Colosseum Ranking System Guide

• How to View Your Colosseum Ranking Info 
  • The launcher shows some of the rankings data.
  • The full ranking data can be viewed on the website by clicking Rankings -> Colosseum at the top
  • When are the rankings updated?
    • Rankings are updated based on a dynamic interval, usually 15-30 minutes after Colosseum PTM ends (round 10).

• Calculation
  • SR is calculated using several factors. The most important factor is winning.
  • Calculation Factors
    • Win/Loss
    • Average Level + Average SR of the match
    • Match Count (compared to avg)
    • Class + Kills/Deaths/Heals
  • Match Exclusions
    • In certain cases, a match will not be counted toward SR.
      • Unequal Teams (not 3v3)
        • Disconnect or game crash BEFORE map loads
          • NOTE: Closing the client or DCing after the map has loaded will result in SR LOSS.
      • New Player / Ungeared / Low Winrate
        • If a team has a player with a very low winrate, the match will not be counted.
  • Penalties
    • Penalties deduct SR points.
      • Low match count --> dynamic: compared to avg # of matches of all ranked players
      • SR Decay --> not playing at least 2 Colosseum matches within 2 days.
      • Excessive disconnecting/relogging/crashing.

ABCD buff reward received via mail will be doubled (two spins instead of one).

[JUMP 2] New Player Experience Improvements

We've made several improvements to help new players get started and be able to enjoy more aspects of the game while they build their set. Now it's quicker than ever to get started and join the action!

• [Starter] Rondow Set +15
  • Built-in Gems
    • The starter set is not socket-able. Instead, we've made it easier for new players by hard-coding what gems would provide.
  • +15 Reinforcement Options, Set Effect, and more
    • The starter version is almost the same as the normal version. The only difference is that the starter version does not have Rank Options and is not brandable.
    • Set Effect --> Because the Starter Rondow set is part of the same set effect, you can keep using the starter and replace individual pieces while you build your actual Rondow set.
      • Example: When you finish making your Rondow +15 Gloves, you can use those with the Starter Rondow Helmet, Boots, Pants, Chest and you will still get the set effect.

  • New JUMP Character Level: 180 --> 200
  • Characters now start with Transup 3 quest completed.
  • Characters now  start with Meister + Grand Meister 1 quests completed.

  • "Cane Hawk" (Summoner + Concerra) --> Removed the sound that played on a loop while the buff was active.
  • "Speed" (Segita Hunter) --> Removed the sound that played on a loop while the buff was active.
  • Decreased volume  of certain environmental sounds and skill effects to improve sound quality and decrease clutter

• Other /  Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug that caused visual issues with inventory UI and auto-arrange/sort.
  • Fixed a bug with some level 1-100 armor/wep shops causing client to crash.
  • Fixed a bug with the target UI
  • Fixed some map names that were incorrect
  • Fixed "Rice Cake Soup" ==>  Fixed a bug that caused this not to stack correctly with other rice cake buffs.
  • Removed floor effect from White Infused Weapon Skin --> We have decided that going forward weapon skins will not include floor effects so that floor effects be exclusive to Talismans.

Performance  Improvements

  • Fixed major issue that caused a delay in processing data between the client and server. This caused issues like characters teleporting or incorrect skill casting and affected all channels but impacted DK channels more.

The Colosseum Ranking System is a one of a kind, Rising exclusive  feature that has been developed from scratch. While we're very proud of how well it works, we strive for perfection and will continue to make improvements each season.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

While we encourage constructive feedback, there will be a 0 tolerance policy for abuse or flaming related related to the Colosseum. The ranking system is in BETA, and  it is not the only priority we have to focus on. We are working on several major updates and the Colosseum is just one thing of many to come.

There is no requirement to participate, and thus we ask anyone who is frustrated to simply opt out of the rankings system (feature will be added soon). Opt out if you tilt to avoid risking a competitive ban or a full account ban. This is the only warning.

Mysterious screams have been heard around the world of Trieste. The Segnale Elders believe it could be what everyone else has discounted as only a myth. The elders believe that the intense bloodshed caused by crafting the Infused Zuto weapons with dark magic may have awakened the screaming witch.

Balance

• This is not a major balance update. That will come later.
• LAST UPDATE:
  • With the addition of 10% pots and characters overall being able to tank more damage, we've dialed back a nerf that we did (equally to all classes) on Meister skills. We implemented that nerf a while ago when the server first launched and people were dying in < 5 seconds due to gear.
    • After this update, all classes will see their Meister skill damage increase after this update.
• THIS UPDATE:
  • In total, when we originally nerfed meister skills, we nerfed them by 15% (same % for all classes). We did this at the beginning of the server while everyone got geared and we added missing items.
  • LAST UPDATE we increased the damage by 8% (so they were will 7% nerfed from original)
  • THIS UPDATE we are increasing them by 7% (this update + last update = 15% increase)
  • THIS MEANS
    • Meister skills are now back to original damage ratio values for all classes (no longer nerfed)
    • Total Meister skill damage % increase from this update is 7%, last update 8%, total 15%
    • Balance is improved since the nerf negatively affected some classes more than others (even though it was the same % for all classes, it hurt classes that relied on high dmg values more)

Fair-Play Improvements

• Competitive game modes can be extremely fun and rewarding, however, their quality is degraded when certain members attempt to abuse the systems for unfair advantage or unearned rewards.

    • We have revamped the system that detects dual loggers in competitive game modes to be much more accurate and resilient, as well as compatible with ExitLag.

    • AFK Tracking predicts characters that are AFK-ing in competitive modes for the sake of rewards.

  • Penalties / Bans
    • Abuse attempts will be either "flagged" or "confirmed". In some cases there will be no notification to the user.
    • If a character receives a certain number of abuse flags, or confirmed abuse detection, they may be banned from competitive modes, sometimes without warning.
      • Upon a competitive ban, an in-game mail will be sent with information about when the ban expires (if ever)
    • If a character seemingly tries to bypass abuse bans, rewards may be deleted from their character.
    • Abusers will be removed, banned, and or disqualified from any upcoming ranking systems (Colosseum, DKS, etc) or tournaments.

Coming Soon -> Network Improvement for Ark + DK Channel

• We've gathered a lot of valuable data thanks to help testing.
• We thank you for your patience, especially our players in Asian countries who have helped us test and been patient while we improve the network architecture.
• We are still working on the upgraded network accelerator setup for Ark and DK-Channel, but we have made significant progress.
• There are two major network updates that are planned for fairly soon. One has already been  implemented, the second, and more drastic, will later this week/weekend or early next week.

Battle System Improvements

• DK-Square
  • Reward System --> Recoded from scratch
    • Fixed an issue that resulted in prizes not being sent at all.
    • Fixed an issue that resulted in prizes not being sent if a match ended early (due to communication)
  • Fairness / Abuse-Prevention
    • Prize requirement added: the fighter must be present for at least 50% of the match to receive prizes.
    • Abuse Prevention:
      • Characters that disconnect or leave prematurely will not receive prizes.
      • Entering with multiple characters or accounts will either be disconnected or disqualified from receiving prizes
      • AFK detection system (AI based) has been added and will be enabled slowly as it is trained with live data.
  • Resolution of Errors --> Fallback system
    • In the case of errors that result in prizes not being sent, we have set up a system that captures and saves the data and allows us to send the prizes in most cases.

    • Entrance will be CLOSED 7-10 minutes after each round STARTS to prevent anyone from entering late for prizes. There may be a 60 second warning before the round entrance closes, but not always.

Colosseum Party Match [BETA]

  • While you may have played Colosseum before, our version is slightly modified and improved.

    • Each Colosseum event lasts for 1 hour.
    • Each Colosseum event has 6 rounds.
    • Waitlist/entry is open for 1 minute before each round.
  • Times
    • Colosseum times will be announced shortly after the update. For now, we will be starting them manually to monitor and make sure the new system works well.
  • BETA
    • Please be advised that this system is considered BETA and adjustments may be made.
    • Colosseum Rankings will be announced 1-2 weeks later after we see how the system works.
